What is NLP? Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is a hands-on learning experience to create mental flexibility in order to generate new possibilities and opportunities. NLP is a model of communication, and motivation that can be used to restructure mental responses to break unwanted (sometimes automatic) patterns of thoughts, feelings and behaviors. It is used to expand choices, and achieve excellence in any endeavor.
What is trance? It is a deeply relaxed, receptive, learning, and peak performance state. The trance state can be induced by a hypnotist (someone trained in hypnosis induction and utilization), and it can be self induced. It is a natural, deeply focused state that everyone has experienced. For example, have you ever “zoned out” driving and suddenly “come to” and realized that you’ve missed your exit? Or been so completely absorbed in a book or project, that you are oblivious of everything and everyone around you and have lost track of time? Those are trance states and trance states can be very pleasant and useful. In trance, the unconscious mind is accessible for creativity and problem solving. Just to be clear, hypnosis (the induction of a state of consciousness called trance) is not brain-washing or mind control. One retains control and can come out of trance at will.
What is Integrative Nutrition? Integrative nutrition is a holistic approach to health focusing on food and lifestyle, recognizing that you are “fed” in many ways, including relationships, career, finances, physical activity and spirituality. Integrative nutrition is a trademarked phrase of The Institute for Integrative Nutrition and Dr. Sue is a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
What Goes on During One of Dr. Sue’s Coaching Sessions? Briefly, Dr. Sue will guide you in a creative process that involves visioning, goal setting and accountability. Trance is used for relaxation, to enhance visioning, and to access inner resources. NLP is used to get around road blocks and increase options.
How is Coaching Different from Therapy? Therapy is about treating psychological disorders by healing past wounds. Coaching is about enhancing well-being through personal growth and development. It is primarily concerned with the present, and future. It is a supportive relationship that encourages self discovery, inspires change, and elicits internal motivation.
