On a personal note, Dr. Sue grew up in Ojai, California, and is forever grateful to the town that shaped her life. She was introduced to meditation and yoga there in 1968, and she practiced yoga regularly for many years. In later years, she practiced yoga and meditation sporadically, as a means of reducing the effects of stress. She later took up a regular practice of meditation when her life reached a turning point during the challenges of career and marriage.
Dr. Sue stumbled upon Qigong (a discipline of meditation and mindfulness in movement) when she signed up for a silent meditation retreat at Gaia House in Devon, England, in 2013. She was attending the retreat specifically for “insight meditation”, and it included Qigong, which she knew nothing about. A few weeks before the retreat, she serendipitously met a couple in her community that taught Qigong and Taijiquan. Amazing how the universe works! They “turned her on” to Qigong, and she now practices on a regular basis.
Dr. Sue resides in Sarasota Florida, an artsy gulf coast community, where she enjoys life with her fiancee and friends. She loves “ethnic” food, and has been collecting recipes from her international friends since she was in graduate school. She loves to “feed” others, which is perfectly in sync with a lifelong passion for cooking, interest in nutrition, and desire to heal.
